Below are the small group ministries of Conyngham United Methodist Church. There are ministries for everyone to enjoy and a place for everyone to lend their services and gifts.
Brothers in Christ:
This Men’s group meets each Saturday morning at 8:30 am for a Biblical study and fellowship.
This group of women (men are welcome) meet the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm to make hand-made crafts to sell at the Christmas Bazaar, usually held the first Saturday of November.
This ecumenical group of women (men are welcome) meet Wednesdays at 10:00 am, September through May and on occasion during the summer months. The focus of this Biblical study group is to learn of the ancient times and lives of those in the Bible as discovered through old writings, including the Bible, and archaeology.
Outside Church Beautification Planters :
This group of men and women work year-round! We would like to show the community that our church looks as good on the outside as we feel on the inside and this is a part of our welcome mat for those who would like to “give us a try”.
Congregational Care Team:
This team was formed to care for and look out for members of our church. This team will schedule visits in home, hospital and care facilities along with a card Care Ministry, prayer circle and prayer shawl ministry.
This ecumenical group meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 to pray for those of whom they know need prayer, and to pray for our churches, our leaders, and our country.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:
This ecumenical group of women (men are welcome) meet the first and third Thursday mornings of the month, 9:30 am, September through May, to make prayer shawls for those who need to surround themselves with the love of God.
The Senior Choir is under the direction of Jacque Wetzel. All who have a love of singing and are grade 9 through 110 years old are welcome into the Senior Choir. They practice Thursday evenings at 7:00, September through May. The Senior Choir sings an anthem usually the first and third Sundays of the month. Many members of this choir are also a part of the Freeland Community Choir. Carpools are arranged from the church parking lot on Monday evenings to practice with the Freeland Community Choir.
This small group helps the Sunday School teachers with craft projects and bulletin board projects. They do not meet on a regular basis; only when needed. They cut out small letters, leaves, hearts etc. More snippers are welcome. See Kate Flaim or Mary Lou Legg if you would like to help.
This ecumenical women’s Bible study group meet Tuesdays at 10:00 am, September through May (with some time off for the coldest winter months). Under the direction of Arlene Stagg, they use a DVD based study and focus on how to best live a Christ centered life. All Christian women are welcome.
This Youth Group, for youth in grade 7 through 12, is led by Rena Bicking. Their focus is to help around the grounds, help with the Sunday School Christmas and Easter parties, and support each other through prayer and friendship. In January, the TAG group, along with parent chaperones, travel to Ocean City, MD for the annual United Methodist Youth Conference. They even take a polar bear dip in the Atlantic! In 2013, youth member Kirsten Young won the top award in the “Spittin’ the Word” contest.
